How to turn on Shader Model 6 (SM6) in Unreal Engine on Windows, you can:

  • Download the latest NVIDIA driver for your GPU card type and install it.
  • Download the latest version of the Unreal Engine.
  • Open your Unreal Engine project.
  • Goto Edit → Project Settings and search for SM6 or go to Platforms then Widnows and enable SM6 under "D8D12 Tageted Shader Formate"
  • Restart the engine.

Alternatively, Create or open file named DefaultEngine.ini in the root folder of your project add or edit the folowing line: r.ShaderModel=6
Restart the engine.

How to enable Lumen in Unreal Engine, you can do the following:

  • Go to Project Settings.
  • Under Rendering, scroll down to Global Illumination and Reflections.
  • Set both to Lumen.
  • Restart the engine.

Lumen is a real-time system for global illumination and reflections that delivers dynamic indirect lighting and reflections. It is automatically enabled in new projects by default.

How to install a plugin into your Unreal Engine project, you can:

  • From Epic launcher click on Library tab and click on your project.
  • After your project loads in the engine, go to Edit → Plugins and search for the plugin and enable it.
  • Restart the engine.

If you want to check if your plugin is installed, go to Edit → Plugins and search for the plugin.
